One half of a geode: a rough tan rind outside, and inside a band of brown, then grey-blue banded chalcedony around a cavity with small crystals. No label; locality unknown.
Scan info Cavity and rind
The cavity, the cut rim and most of the rind, from video. The geode turned on a turntable while the phone filmed three orbits; it was then set down the other way for two more, but the outside of a geode is a near-symmetric dome and the two sessions could not be joined with confidence, so only the first is here. The patch it rested on was never filmed, so the view stops a little below the lowest angle the camera saw. Each turntable clip was cut to one full turn and the sharpest frame in every 50th of it kept, about one every 7°.
