ON THE BENCH / 3D STUDY 07 · FROM VIDEO

Calcite,
dogtooth.

A cluster of pale yellow, pointed scalenohedral calcite crystals, with a seam of a dark, glittering sulfide across one side.
A handwritten cloth label begins “Calcite”; the rest is not legible on the video. Locality unknown here.

Scan info 360°

Full 360°, from video. The specimen turned on a turntable while the phone filmed four orbits, then it was turned over for three more. Each turntable clip was cut to one full turn and the sharpest frame in every 50th of it kept, about one every 7°. The two halves were joined by shape before training. The glassy points are the hardest thing here: detail is softest where the halves meet, and softer than the video.
